Friends of Shirenewton Church is not a religious group. It includes regular church attendees, those in the local community who support the community events the church organises and those from further a field with an affinity to the church gained from other events – be they christenings, marriages, funerals, activities such as bell ringing or even Church’s corporate fund raising events.
The common theme which runs through the Friends is that, in this era where the loss of community facilities seems to be a fait accompli, the village church is a ‘good thing’ and should be supported, protected and maintained.

Shirenewton Church in the community
In addition to its standard ministry, Shirenewton Church has a central role in planning and providing non-religious community events, communicating with the community through this website and generally providing a social environment in which people have an opportunity to informally meet neighbours and other fellow members of the community.
Architecturally, the Church provides a fantastic ‘centre piece’ for Shirenewton village. Who can honestly say that they don’t want to see the flag flying from the tower and the Church floodlit at night. If only for this, Shirenewton Church deserves your financial support.
Benefits of being a Friend of Shirenewton Church
Becoming a Friend of Shirenewton Church provides a means for you to support the church and its role in the community. The Church and its events are part of what makes Shirenewton special – but we need your support to make it continue.
Friends of Shirenewton Church also benefit from regular news updates, discounts on some of the church events (such as forthcoming concerts, etc in the new extension) and will receive an invitation to the annual Friends Dinner.
A Register of Friends of Shirenewton Church will be kept at the Church and will be open for inspection. Friends of Shirenewton Church will automatically be entered in the register unless they express a preference for privacy. We hope that this register will become part of the Church’s historical record.
