This section of the site deals with the recent planning application in respect of Shirenewton golf Club. Final note: Its all over. As many of you may be aware, despite all our hard work Monmouthshire County Council Planning Committee was unconvinced that community use of the Golf Club was sufficient to justify a mandatory contribution to the community to compensate for the loss of the amenity. It may interest you to know that the Communiy Council have announced in the Parish Magazine that they intend to write to the County Planning Department challenging some of their recent decisions particularly with regard to local conservation areas. Background The Golf Club was purchased by a development company which has submitted plans to convert the current club house and adjoining buildings at Shirenewton Golf Club into 10 residential units. The Community council held a public meeting at Shirenewton Recreation Hall on Tuesday 7th September. For notes of this meeting click here.
